My faith informs me that to love and be loved in a world that does not know God, begins with a creed and behavior that is first learned at home. To me love in the family is the formation of a united front wherein the first priority is to seek and know and do the will of God. God’s good will is always highest and best especially in response to the offensive things that people can say and do that really disturb our peace. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
I have set the LORD always before me; Because he is at my right hand I shall not be moved.
Learning how to love and be loved is like archery lessons that teach us how to cast out fear: aim for the bulls-eye, where the love of God rests and there is peace and access to wisdom. Hopefully we are all learning how to become better versions of ourselves, holding one accountable with a mercy and a heart full of hope and faith that the grace of God carries us forward closer to Him when we seek His face.
This from Pope Francis in The Joy of Love – On Love in the Family (2015) p.85
If we accept that God’s love is unconditional, that the Father’s love cannot be bought or sold, then we will become capable of showing boundless love and forgiving others even if they have wronged us. Otherwise, our family life will no longer be a place of understanding, support and encouragement, but rather one of constant tension and mutual criticism.
All it takes is one mustard seed of faith to get a fresh start.
